Gerber® has been dedicated to nurturing the happy and healthy growth of four generation of babies with the same parental love.
And it all begins 93 years ago with…
Gerber® founded by an American couple at 1927 where Dan and Dorothy Gerber started straining peas for their 7-month-old daughter, Sally. Mrs. Gerber saw an opportunity to start straining fruits and vegetables at their canning business, based in Fremont, Michigan and the legacy of Gerber® baby food began.
The first photo contest was held to find the face of Gerber® for its ads. The baby featured, Ann Turner, became the iconic Gerber® Baby.
Dorothy Gerber’s column “Bringing up Baby” made her the ultimate spokesperson.
In 1951, Gerber® becomes the first baby food company to advertise on television.
